From April 17 to 19, Acapulco will be the host of the first Mariachi Summit 2025. The event, presented by Grupo Mundo Imperial, aims to celebrate traditional Mexican music with over 20 mariachi groups, delicious gastronomy, and a spectacular closing act featuring Pepe Aguilar alongside the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.
Highlights of the Event:
- Mariachi Groups: Enjoy performances by 20 top mariachi ensembles, including legends like Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and Mariachi Gama 1000.
- Folkloric Ballets: Witness stunning performances from ballets of Colima, Guadalajara, and the Universitario Malintzin Folkloric Ballet.
- Gastronomy: Savor delicious dishes from Mexico’s top 20 taquerías and a special ceviche showcase, complemented by an artisan bazaar featuring over 50 local entrepreneurs.
Igor Lozada, Director of Entertainment at Mundo Imperial, stated that the summit aims to boost tourism and local economy by positioning Acapulco as an international cultural reference. Tickets cost 300 pesos per day, but guests staying at Mundo Imperial hotels (Princess, Palacio, and Pierre) can attend for free, except the Pepe Aguilar concert.
Supporting Local Tourism:
Artists such as Fernando de la Mora, Rosy Arango, and Chucho Gama from Mariachi Gama 1000 see the event as a means to uplift Acapulco’s tourism. Notable activities include a cantata mass with Mariachi Águila Real, tributes to the Salmerón family, and a taqueria competition called “El Sabor del Puerto a Mundo Imperial.”
