The Venezuelan Defense Ministry has put its forces on high alert following a reported “false flag” operation against an ExxonMobil platform in Guyanese waters, which Venezuela claims as its own.
Military Response to Any Threat
The Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana (FANB) is on alert against the alleged plan by what Vice President Delcy Rodríguez called a “false flag” operation, intending to attack the ExxonMobil platform in waters disputed with Guyana. This move aims to generate confusion and initiate aggression against Venezuela.
Blaming Imperialism
The Ministry of Defense has reaffirmed its “will and determination to respond with decisive actions in perfect popular-military-police fusion, to any threat against the integrity and peace” of Venezuela. They attribute this alleged future attack to “imperialist meddling,” denouncing a modus operandi that aims to provoke conflicts with premeditation and cunning, followed by an invasion using military and economic power.
Guyana Accused of Violating Ginebra Agreement
Despite this, the Ministry continues to accuse Guyanese authorities of violating “blatantly” the Geneva Agreement by unilaterally controlling an area where they lack jurisdiction. They maintain exploration and commercialization activities in the disputed zone with foreign drilling ships and tankers, specifically referring to the Esequibo region, which Venezuela claims.
Defense of Historical Rights
Venezuela defends its “historical rights” over the Esequibo region, a territory rich in oil and minerals, under a law passed recently to annex it. These declarations follow Vice President Rodríguez’s accusation of opposition leader María Corina Machado and U.S. figure Erik Prince orchestrating a future “false flag” operation, involving U.S. Secretary Marco Rubio and ExxonMobil.
