EU Revokes Permits for Migrants Using CBP One App

Over 900,000 migrants granted entry via CBP One app must leave the US by Dec. 31, 2024.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has begun issuing mandatory notices to approximately 936,500 individuals who entered the U.S. using CBP One, an app developed during Joe Biden’s presidency, instructing them to depart immediately.

Part of a Broader ‘Self-Deportation’ Strategy

This move aligns with the launch of CBP Home, an updated version of CBP One. The new platform facilitates voluntary exit reporting, offering users the possibility of future legal re-entry if they depart willingly.

DHS Justification

“Self-deportation is the safest option for undocumented foreigners,” stated DHS. “It’s not only safer but also cost-effective, allowing authorities to focus on criminal migrants.”

Criticism from Biden Administration

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem called the previous use of CBP One by the Biden administration a “misuse of the immigration system,” enabling over one million foreigners to enter without proper vetting.

“CBP Home restores integrity to our immigration system. Those who leave now may have the chance to return legally,” Noem added.

International Campaign Launch

A $200 million international advertising campaign was launched, emphasizing, “Leave now or you’ll never be allowed back.”

“Criminals are not welcome in the U.S.,” Noem warned on March 15, targeting potential illegal immigrants with criminal records.
