A three-year-old girl who had been infected with avian flu H5N1 in the state of Coahuila died at the clinic where she was hospitalized, announced local Health Secretary Eliud Aguirre on Tuesday.
This marked the first human case reported in Mexico and remains the only one so far. The child succumbed to a “multi-organ failure“, as detailed by the state’s health secretary.
